The Government of India cleared the clouds for Blackberry by telling that they are not looking for banning blackberry e-mail services in India. “There is no question of banning BlackBerry,” said Siddhartha Behura, secretary, Department of Telecommunications. “We are keen to resolve the issue at the earliest.”
Stated A Raja, minister of communications and information technology, “The matter would be deliberated at length since security was a matter of paramount concern for the country. We will discuss this at the Telecom Commission.”
The govt has decided to make possible to intercept all Blackberry’s encrypted e-mails. It has asked the Service providers to allow the govt to intercept. They are given 31stMarch as the deadline. Airtel, Reliance, Vodafone and BPL are the Service providers who are offering Blackberry services in India. “All these are technological issues. I am sure they will all get resolved at the earliest.” responding the deadline.
Meanwhile, Blackberry has been asked for the possibility of making mirror images o fall e-mails being sent. And to maintain the images for minimum 6 months time period. And also, Blackberry has been asked to consider shifting servers to India for all Indian data traffic.
