In a surprise development, Bharati Airtel has signed a deal with Apple to bring iPhone to India before the year end. Last week, another popular indian service provider Vodafone announced its tieup with Apple to carry iPhone to India. So with this announcement, it is well confirmed that Apple is no longer planning to have exclusivity deal with mobile service providers in India like in US and UK.
Singapore Telecommunication ltd (SingTel) has signed a deal with Apple to bring iPhone to countries like Singapore, India and SingTel which has a stake in Bharati Airtel, hence bring it to India thru’ Airtel network.
Indians have been waiting for the legal version of Apple iPhone for a quite long time and hence whoever between the two, Vodafone and Airtel, carries it first to India will capitalize and improve the subscribers base for its service. Hence both the providers will keen to make it available earlier than the other.
