Mobile TV by June - MTNL

According to a recent research by Springboard Research, Mobile TV market in India is estimated to be around $360 million by 2008. As per the research, 84 percent of mobile users in India are interested to use the mobile TV service, however we can expect atleast 5-10% of them to use the service regularly. But we are in the middle of 2008 and unfortunately still no service providers or broadcaster stepped into the service in a full scale to tap the huge market potential out of it.

Now surprisingly, state run MTNL is gearing itself to launch the mobile tv service to its subscribers and that too by June 2008. MTNL is currently running field trials and would initially launch 21 channels. Subscription costs, Channel details and exact launch date is unavailable for the moment.
