First Look: Philips 198 and 199 - Entry level mobile phones for Europe and Asia

World’s largest electronic device manufacturer, Philips has launched two entry level mobile phones for Asian and European market. The two models named Philips 198 and Philips 199 will be priced at Rs. 2500 and Rs. 2800 respectively

Featurewise both the models are almost similar except that Philips 199 has FM radio and headset while the other doesnt. Handsets weighs 65 grams and 99 x42 x 13.5 mm in dimesions has 1.5 inch color display with four navigation keys.

Handset also features easy to use keypad, 3 embedded games, polyphonic ringtones, SMS and MMS capable, T9 predictive texting, miniUSB, with an 800mAh battery that provides up to 20 days standby time and 5 hours of talk time. Both the models supports dual-band GSM 900/1800 with GPRS.

Verdict: Standby time is the only dfferential factor otherwise lots of better handsets both in featurewise and costwise are available in the market
