National Integrated Directory Enquiry Service

Soon, you may delete all of your contacts from your mobile phones except directory enquiry service number. Indian telecom subscribers will soon have access to directory services of fixedline as well as mobile subscribers which will be managed by a National Integrated Directory Enquiry Service (NIDQS) says the telecom regulator Trai.

TRAI has intiated the process of providing License for Mobile operators to run Integerated Diretory Enquiry which was proposed by TRAI itself during Dec’07.Licensing will be based on auctioning with a entry fee of Rs 1 crore.

Key points :

1. It is a National Integerated Directory in which all Fixed line subscribers details except those ‘opted -out’ of registering and details of only mobile subscribers who are ‘Opted -in’ for registering in the directory.
2. This service can be accessed through SMS, E-mail, Internet Pages and Integerated Voice Response System.
3. Have to pay Tariff to get informed using this service. Tariff will be determined by providers who provides this servie in your circle with a TRAI review.
