Anil Dhirubhai Ambani (ADA) group owned Reliance Communication is set to launch its Direct-To-Home service , Big TV DTH, from the 15th of August. According to the sources the DTH service will initially includes 200 channels with 20 dedicated movie channels and with the launch, Big TV DTH will become the first DTH player to offer high definition channels. Reliance ADA is expected to announce the tariff and the plan details for the service in the next few days. Company’s website says ” For as little as under Rs. 100 a month, you can get over dozens of digital as well as Pay-Per-View channels and much more“. So we can expect much competitative plans from RCom, as the company’s entered and capture the highly competitative mobile space in a similar fashion few years ago.
RCom is believed to have ordered 5 million set top boxes to meet its requirements in the first year operation and the company sets itself to become the largest player in the first year of operation. Big TV DTH service is already available for Rcom group employees as part of the company’s trial run in 2400 towns across India.
