Finally Tata’s are all set to launch the Blackberry services in India. According to the close sources to the company , Tata teleservices will launch the blackberry services in next two months. Tata teleservices plans to launch the blackberry services is heldup from last year due to Indian government’s concerns over the security issues with the Blackberry services. Indian Department of Telecom (DOT) has asked Canada based Blackberry licensor Research-in-Motion(RIM) to place the server in India to resolve the security concerns caused by the service. However no firm decisions is taken and the discussions between RIM and Indian government is still continuing. Tata Teleservices argues that as the government has’nt holdup/banned the blackberry services offered by other existing players like Reliance, Airtel and Vodafone, its move to deny the permission for it alone to start the service is unacceptable and is a commercial disadvantage to them. Hence TTSL prefers to launch the service now and assures that they will abide the new regulation once they are finalized by the Indian goverment.
