These numbers are quite interesting. According to a recent study, India is way ahead of US and UK in terms of mobile advertising. The report says 85% of Indian mobile subscribers are receiving mobile advertisments while the numbers in US and UK are 35% and 51% respectively. US based mobile social community, Limbo and Market search agency, GFK has revealed the numbers in its latest Mobile Advertising Report.
According to the report, 74 percent of Indian users, 48 percent of UK users and 22 percent of US users are receiving text based advertising, while 40 percent of Indians, 9 percent of UK and 3 percent of US users are receiving radio advertising. The trend is quite opposite in terms of response to the advertising and this is very important for the advertisers. 16% of UK users are recalling the advertisments while it is 8% in US and 4% in India.
Now coming to reality, In India, more than 75% of text mobile advertising are SPAMS or reaching the users without their consent. When compared to any other country, we are using mobile phones more for listening to FM stations and those are not actually radio advertising. So number wise India may be well ahead of other countries in mobile advertising but i’m skeptical about the reach of the advertisments due to aforesaid reasons.
