Airtel announces iPhone pricing

Following Vodafone, Bharti Airtel announces the pricing for Apple iPhone. Airtel’s pricing comes as a no surprise for the customers since it follows the same pricing as Vodafone. So 8GB phone costs Rs. 31000 and 16 GB costs Rs. 36100. 8GB comes in black color and 16 GB comes in white and black color. To book the phone thru’ Airtel, you have to pay Rs. 5000 in advance and book the phone on August 20th or 21st. The handset is available from August 22nd on listed Airtel stores.

As per Airtel’s FAQ, the phone will be locked to Airtel’s SIM card and cannot be used with other service providers. So to use the official version, it will be lifetime contract period. Airtel didn’t reveal any details about the data plan. We have to wait whether there will be any special data plans for the iPhone buyers.

Overall pricing wise both the service providers have disappointed hugely. Eventhough both the service providers have their own set of reasons to justify the cost, the pricing is really crazy when comparing the features and prices of iPhone and other competitive models.
