Reliance classic 732

Reliance Communication (RCom) announced the launch of its newest color handset priced at Rs 999.
The ‘Classic 732′ is the first color handset to be made available in the country at such a low price.
Reliance Communication has earlier launched a colour handset for Rs 1234. These colour handsets have been made by contract manufacturers in China. The attractively priced Classic 732 has a large phonebook (500 x 3), SMS on call reject, speakerphone and a host of other features. Reliance is targeting new low-end customers with this phone and hopes to sell more than 15lakh units of this ‘classic 732′ set.

RCom is selling nearly 1 million Classic handsets per month. For the youth segment, the company has introduced FM radio capable phones at prices beginning Rs 1,888; for the segment upgrading to colour phones it has a model at Rs 1,234; and for the economy segment, monochrome handsets at Rs 777, Rs 888 and Rs 999, respectively.

Reliance Communication hopes to convert some of its existing users of black and white handsets. The redefining price point from Reliance Mobile is a “No Conditions” attached transparent total handset price, available across all pre & post-paid plans. Reliance customers can choose their desired tariff with this handsets.Vodafone is also looking at Rs 666 basic handset and a colour handset for less than a 1000 rupees. China’s ZTE, which is looking to set up a manufacturing unit in India, is expected to provide several handset models to Vodafone under a global low-cost handset procurement deal signed between the two companies earlier this year. Huawei Technologies is actively evaluating the option of setting up a manufacturing base in India and is even considering the option of direct retail sales, though no decision has been taken on this yet. Huawei is looking at supplying GSM phones for operators like Bharti Airtel and Vodafone and is expected to launch a slew of products in the local market shortly.
