World phone, a well known VOIP service provider in India, has entered into the broadband market and started offering their services @ Rs. 95/month. World Phone has tied up with local cable television operators across Delhi, NCR regions for providing this service. Customers subscribing to the monthly 95 plan will get a speed of up to 256 kbps with a 200 MB data download limit. After Delhi and NCR, the company has plans to expand the services in Mumbai, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Kolkata soon. In addition to the monthly 99 plan, world phone also has other plans like unlimited plan, hourly plan and data limit based plan to suit different requirements of internet users. World phone also offers prepaid service by which the customers can get the recharge vouchers from the cable operators and start surfing instantly.
Bottomline: Entering in to the segment with a cheap tariff is a wonderful business strategy and works well in Indian market. However reliable services is going to be key and as Worldphone is entirely depending on the cable tv service providers for the delivery it is going to be a huge challenge for them
