Indians sent 25 billion SMSs every year, Yes that might be the factor for google to launch its SMS service first in India(in Asia). This SMS service gives the power of Google Search in their ordinary mobile. Users do not need an Internet-enabled phone to access Google’s new service. Through the ‘Google SMS’ mobile messaging service, users can get business listings and movie show timings, just by sending a text message to the shortcode, which is 54664 [5GOOG] from their mobile phones. The local information would include movie timings, restaurants, local hospitals and taxi services among others. Google SMS, has been launched in beta version across four cities Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. Google has tied-up with five operators Reliance, Bharti Airtel, BSNL, BPL and Aircel for offering this SMS service. The users would be charged between 80 paise and Rs 3 per SMS depending on the operator
