This is really a surprising news. Country’s largest telecom service provider, BSNL is making efforts to bring iPhone for its customers by December 2008. As BSNL will also launch 3G services by that time, BSNL subscribers will be the first users in the country to get a chance to use the 3G services in Apple iPhone 3G.
Department of Telecom (DoT) has already alloted 3G spectrum for the state owned BSNL and MTNL and gave the signal to rollout the 3G service in the country. Process of allotment of spectrum for the private telcos is yet to begin and it will take minimum of April 2009 for the private operators to begin the services. So BSNL is having a definite edge over Airtel and Vodafone in iPhone sales, if it comes up with an attractive data plans and exhaustive coverage.
