RCom soft launches GSM services

Reliance communication (RCom) commences soft launch of its GSM services in Mumbai and Delhi regions by providing 10,000 SIM cards to its employees. RCom is planned to launch the service officially in these regions within next eight to ten weeks of time, ie: around mid-December. Besides these regions, the company has also planned to test and launch its services in UP, Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan and the four southern states soon.

RCom has invested around 800 crore rupees for setting up 2,500 towers and other necessary infrastructure in Mumbai region. RCom would be the second player after Idea Cellular to launch its GSM services in the city in this year. RCom estimates close to 5 lakh test subscribers likely to be on the company’s GSM network by the time of launch.
