Nokia Friend View – Stay connected anytime, “ANYWHERE”!

Nokia Friend View is an experimental research project by Nokia Research Center. Nokia Beta Labs – with the tagline ‘Shaping the future together’ has set out on this project with a view to virtually diminish the geographical separation with far n dear ones. Nokia Friend View is a location and micro-blogging service that helps you stay in touch with your close friends. It lets you share where you are and how you feel from home, work, or on the go. With Friend View it is easy to meet up at only a moment’s notice.

If your crew is just too occupied to keep tabs on your every move via Qik, you should probably give Friend View a spin. Fresh out of the Nokia Beta Labs comes this application, which queues up your location and then enables you to socially network with other online buddies in order to plan a meetup, just say hello or engage in acts of stalking. The app has been tested to function on the 5320 XpressMusic, 6110 Navigator, 6210 Navigator, N95, N95 8GB, N82, N96, E71, E90, N80 and E61, though it should do just fine on any device running S60 3rd Edition.

One of the aims of the service is to help facilitate serendipitous meetings between friends. If you know where people are and what they’re doing then it is easier to make plans together on the spur of the moment.

The application has two basic components: firstly, updating and sharing your location, and secondly sharing information and what you are doing or thinking (micro-blogging). Sharing pics and videos have become seamless and easy. Now, it’s time we start sharing the location as well and that too, very much live! No recording , just a click away, you can share the location where you are, with your friend and family.  To log in to Friend View you need to have a Nokia Account. Friend View works in many S60 3rd Edition phones. It has a web browser interface that lets you follow up from home or elsewhere.
