BSNL ties up with Novatium to offer computer for Rs.2,999

BSNL, one of the provider of broadband services in India , has joined hands with Novatium Solutions, a provider of rich computing services. The tie-up will bring together Novatium’s Nova netPC and BSNL broadband for just Rs. 2,999. With this deal, BSNL will try to take computing to the masses with the help of Novatium’s patented technology, DUDM.

A. Raja, Ministry of IT and communications said, “India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world today. Given its huge size, telecom will continue to play a key role in its growth. It is in this context that broadband penetration becomes very important. We have grown from a meager 0.18 mn broadband subscriber base in March 2005 to more than 5 million base in August 2008. Our target is to hit 20 mn broadband household base by 2010.”

Kuldeep Goyal, CMD, BSNL, said, “BSNL has been constantly innovating to champion the adoption of broadband usage in the country. Several BSNL’s fixed line customers have stayed away from computing due to the cost and complexities involved. With our huge connectivity and infrastructure, BSNL hopes to give a new wind to the computing and broadband revolution in the country through bundling with products like Novatium netPC.”

Elaborating more on it, Alok Singh, CEO, Novatium Solutions, said, “Novatium believes in simple computing for the masses. Novatium’s Nova netPC is an affordable and simple desktop. We have made it very user-friendly so that it can now be operated like any household appliance at the touch of a button. We are now looking at attaining a subscriber base of 125,000 in the country by the end of the financial year.”
