I needed a smart phone urgently when my nexus 5 smoked (!). I decided to go for a qwerty device as I text more and I find the touch screen annoying for texting.

Q5 falls under a more affordable price. Its compact and has a good qwerty keyboard. I doesn't come with call attend, disconnect & track pad which I would have preferred but comes with a touch screen. The device has been stable. The charge seems to wear off quickly when using wifi but so was nexus - so nothing to complain about really. I was really happy with the size of the device as I found the nexus 5 a bit too big for my liking. But this comes with its own downsides - viewing movies & pictures is better with a larger screen. Its a tradeoff.

One of the major shortcomings in the blackberry world in general is the apps. The play store is unmatched in its variety for apps. So if you are really app savvy, you have to weigh in your options. I am not really a high % app user but I missed a few apps - like UBER, truecaller (which is there but has appalling reviews) and google now. But the ones present for facebook, four square, map etc are not bad.

Overall, I found it a surprisingly good phone falling short in the app side.

The battery kept discharging itself. In the first two mornings battery discharged it self. Spent the next two night closing all applications before sleeping. still in the morning after full charge the battery was finished.

returned it finally. Amazon great service. collected the product and refunded the money instantly.

Good phone overall

Phone comes with all the charms of Blackberry device. Regular apps like facebook, twitter, linkedin, ndtv, whatsapp are all available for free. Difficult to find other fancy apps. But if you like no-nonsense phones that doesn't hang, doesn't risk your files with virus, does promote itself as an extra-ordinary phone just by increasing screen size... Blackberry Q5 is the phone for you. Class and value for money.

I am now using Blackberry Q5 for more than a month and I would classify this phone to be good enough for its cost.
Maybe there are some OS software issues, but they do not bother you much, in day to day tasks.
If you consider the cost to the features in the phone, it is worth going in for it.
